Pressed Flowers
Pressed flowers can be used to add elegance to all kinds of crafts, including bookmarks and journals. The following will present two different ways to press flowers. These same processes can be used to press leaves, as well.Method 1
2 sheets of white paper
A complete dictionary of a language or 4 heavy books
Freshly picked flowers
1. Arrange the flowers on a sheet of white paper. Make sure the flowers do not touch each other.
2. Cover the flowers with the other piece of white paper.
3. Slip them between the pages of the complete dictionary or one of the heavy books. If flowers are placed between the pages of a heavy book, stack the other three books on top of the first book to add weight.
4. Allow the flowers to remain in this place for two weeks. Every three or so days, check your flowers. If the paper becomes moist, replace it.
Method 2
2 sheets of paper towel
6 pieces of thick, corrugated cardboard
2 large rubber bands
Freshly picked flowers
1. Arrange the flowers on one of the paper towel sheets. Like the method above, make sure the flowers do not touch each other.
2. Cover the flowers with the other paper towel.
3. Stack three pieces of cardboard on top of each other. Place the two pieces of paper with flowers inside on top of the third piece of cardboard.
4. Stack the other three pieces of cardboard on top of the flowers. Hold this stack in place with two rubber bands.
5. Allow the flowers to remain in this place for two weeks. Every three or so days, check your flowers by removing the rubber bands and lifting up the first three pieces of cardboard. If the paper becomes moist, replace it.
